This workshop requires no musical ability--just a desire to use your intuition to guide you on a journey with an ancient instrument.

This class is for anyone who has a Native American flute and has taken a beginner class or has a fundamental understanding of how to play. Ideal if you need a jump-start to your practice routine and enjoy playing in a group. Learn improvisation techniques and embellishments to take you to the next level. NCFC Bay Clan April Flute Circle

SCHEDULE: 2:00 PM: Arrive, socialize, show flutes.
2:30 PM: Open fluting time.

3:30 PM: Open mike, with audience feedback.
We will have a couple of minutes after
each player short performance to constructively
praise and comment on the musical piece.

NEW FOR THIS MEETING:
1. Audience participation. Be prepare to share your
thoughs of what worked well, and what could be fine
tuned, during the second Open mike session.

WHAT TO BRING:
Flutes, drums, and any other musical instrument you would like
to play with.

Azteca Mexica New Year Ceremony


Mark your calendars. The Azteca Mexica New Year Ceremony is planned for the weekend of March 15-16, 2008 @ the National Hispanic University in San Jose, CA. Xavier Quijas Yxayotl will be playing on Saturday at Noon. Every year, this is a specatular event. It's an opportunity to experience the culture of native Mexico, and a great opportunity to see Xavier perform.

  • 11 AM - Zuni Nation
  • 12 noon - Danza Azteca, Naming Ceremony, Guest Flute Player Xavier Quijas Yxayotl

  • 6 - 8 PM: Silent Auction for the Peace & Dignity Journey: Winner Announcements

Ann Licater in Concert, Aug 18th


Ann Licater is performing at the Center for Spiritual Living on Saturday August 18th. This is great opportunity to hear Ann's music. The event includes special guests Troy Arnett on piano and Dave DiLullo on percussion.

Bay Clan Flute Circle this weekend

The NCFC Bay Clan is getting together at the Stanford Sculpture garden this Sunday for an informal flute circle. Bring your drums and flutes.

SCHEDULE:
3:00 PM: Flute costume showcase and open mic.
4:00 PM: BBQ, or Potluck if rainy, plus more fluting

NEW FOR THIS MEETING:
1. Flute costume showcase (be creative and dressup a flute with a favorite theme of yours).Got a favorite tune? Dress up your flute with the theme of that tune! Or do you have a favorite show, or character? Then this is a good opportunity to learn a new tune to play with your flute in costume.

WHAT TO BRING: At least one flute in costume (no need for player to dress up unless you really want to). Plan to bring some side dish for the BBQ, if it looks like it may rain the we switch to Potluck instead and bring some dish to share.

THINGS TO TALK ABOUT:
Holiday season approaching. Last year we performed some caroling at the Children's hospital. It is time to start thinking asimilar activity for this year.
